We
receive many phone calls and inquiries as to the cost
of a funeral, and it still remains one the the harder
issues to answer easily. Since every family and every
funeral is somehow unique to itself, generic, one
price answers are hard to give. Having said this,
we have attempted to set out our price list in such
a way that, for the most part, a family can see the
many options and types of funerals that are available.
A funeral may be customized to meet the needs of any
family, by itemizing the services that are required
and eliminating services that are not deemed necessary.
Some
of the key issues to determine funeral costs
might be found in a few simple questions. The
first issue might be the choice of visitation,
should that be held for one full day, or perhaps
an evening or an afternoon prior to the day
of service, or maybe an hour or so prior to
the time of service on the same day. As you
might expect, the duration of visitation will
have an effect on the overall cost of the services.
Another issue that should be determined is whether
embalming should be provided to accomodate an
open casket situation. Embalming is not mandatory
under Ontario law, however, many funeral homes,
such as ours might have policies regarding viewing
and identification. If embalming is declined,
you will notice the other preparation options
that can be chosen. Items such as stationery
and automobiles can also further determine the
overall cost. As part of the public price list,
you will find descriptions of all services so
you can determine what is involved and your
requirement of that service. As well, a full
written description of all merchandise such
as caskets, burial vaults and urns that are
normally kept in stock is available for your
consideration. To obtain a copy of our price
list, you may do so without cost or obligation
by contacting us by phone, fax or letter or
e-mail us at whattamfh@sympatico.ca
or a personal visit anytime. Our staff remains
ready, again without cost or obligation, to answer
any questions pertaining to cost or any other
issue. It would be our pleasure to assist you.
